WCB SME BAT Curriculum 2023

Introduction

I was privileged to develop a custom training curriculum on Business Acceptance Testing (BAT) for the Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB). This curriculum aims to provide WCB Corporate Learning Specialists with a comprehensive framework they can leverage to develop an educational program using Articulate Riise. In addition, this training will be incorporated into all forthcoming BAT projects throughout the organization.

Instructional Design

The training aims to equip WCB’s business-side subject matter experts (SMEs) with the necessary skills to engage actively in Business Acceptance Testing. This involvement enables SMEs to evaluate, report defects, and offer valuable insights into an information system’s efficacy, efficiency, and user satisfaction.

The curriculum I designed consists of three comprehensive modules, each featuring descriptions, definitions, diagrams, graphics, and formative assessments—all prepared by me. In addition, I included a “how to use” section and references to the relevant frameworks and pedagogical processes in the introductory material to support the learning process.

I conducted thorough research through interviews and document review to ensure the curriculum was grounded in the organization’s current practices. In addition, I consulted with external SMEs and engaged in secondary research to provide a holistic and informed perspective.

I regularly interacted with the Corporate Learning Specialist and Project Manager throughout the project to clarify queries and explore further opportunities.

Conclusion

The project was well-received, with stakeholders commending the professionalism and thoroughness of the work. This endeavor provided a fantastic opportunity to contribute meaningfully to WCB’s educational initiatives, and I relished the collaborative experience with the entire team.
