BAT Workshop Winter 2023
Introduction
As part of an initiative to enhance organizational understanding and streamline processes, I developed and facilitated a comprehensive full-day workshop on Business Acceptance Testing (BAT) for WCB’s technical support staff. This preparatory measure was taken before a significant restructuring of the BAT methodology within the organization. The workshop was conducted across three consecutive cohorts, imparting crucial knowledge to over 67 participants.
Instructional Design
The development of the workshop content was driven by an agile approach, which allowed me to adapt the training material based on participant feedback and evolving business requirements throughout the series of events. In addition, my preparation involved rigorous research into the organization’s current practices through interviews and document review.
The workshop was characterized by its engaging activities, and the training delivery received positive feedback on multiple fronts - content, topics, resource design, and participant engagement.
Conclusion
Following the workshop, I conducted a retrospective analysis with stakeholders across two meetings to glean lessons learned. This process involved identifying and analyzing recurring themes from the workshop feedback. Subsequently, I synthesized these insights into a concise checklist, which I shared with the stakeholders. This checklist is a valuable reference for designing and delivering future workshop training events.
